| Successfull test for David Johnson and RT Motorsports at Valencia |
| Valencia played host to the Yamaha test week 2007. The entire RT Motorsports team where there to take full advantage of this event put on by Yamaha Europe for their sponsored teams. From the first of three days on track the weather was very unlike the Spanish conditions everybody expected with rain, rain and more rain much to the dislike of RT Motorsports sole rider, Australian David Johnson. David added, “This was my first trip to Spain so it’s not a good first impression!! Everyone in Hinckley, my home in the UK, go on about how nice it is all the time but it looked pretty crappy to me!!” He laughs. “ My team manager Robbo still wanted me to take the R1 out in the rain on the first day but I think now he regrets that after my little high side I had coming out of turn two. I was pushing fairly hard doing race simulations but I just pushed a little too hard I think. I was ok and the bike was not so badly damaged, that’s the main thing.” Team manager Rob Vennegoor was happy with David’s wet weather pace but was happy to see the conditions improve on day two saying, “ David’s crash was ok. I would be happier if it didn’t happen but we have to allow for that sort of thing. The second day started off wet and eventually dried up enough for David to get some fast laps in and learn this difficult circuit. Day three was fully dry and we found a good set up for the bikes and David’s pace was good considering the slippery track conditions. The whole teams worked very well together. We made so many changes to both the bikes. The settings where very far away when we first rolled the bikes out at Valencia but we got there in the end. Everybody did a great job. I thank Wilco Zeelenberg and the Japanese Engineers for their support throughout the week.” David feels happy with the test saying, “My times where good in the end and the bike feels great so I’m looking forward to the first Dutch Superbike round this weekend at Assen. I am very happy with my mechanics, Gert, Marty, Frank and Gary. Together we nutted out all of the problems we where faced with and sorted them no worries.” The first Dutch Superbike round of the season is this coming weekend at Assen.
