RACER OF THE YEAR

You are here: Cafe Racer Club HomeHistory - Racer of the Year

Each event, including club meetings, attended by members throughout the financial year (1st July to 30th June) accumulates 1 point towards their tally. The onus is on the member to claim the points by logging them on the sign in sheet at club meetings.

The intent is to recognise those who actively participate in club activities whether they be competitive, organisational or social by nature.

At the end of 2002 we moved to a calendar year count of the points so that we could present the awards at the Road Race Presentation night at the start of February, so the 2002 points winner was selected on just 6 months. Our winner and reigning Cafe Racer of The Year for 2003, Marty Hockham, can be found tending the bar at club meetings (the second barman in succession to take the award), flying the club colours riding escort for the Tour Down Under, or driving the pickup vehicle at our competition events. Top effort Marty and a well deserved win.
